SCRICCA, Robert Sr. (Bob)
SAGLOSKI (McShane), Leah Ann
January 15, 1952- December 27, 2023
Passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Thorold. Loving wife of Philip for 52 years, devoted mother to daughters Tara (Stephen) and Tiffany (Doug). Doting nana to Joshua and Jillian who she spoiled immensely, as well as her "grand puppies" Bandit and Wednesday. Beloved friend and confidante to Nancy Jo Gamache. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Predeceased by infant son, Robbie, brother Kelly McShane and father Robert McShane. Leah wore many hats through her life, from beauty school dropout to bank teller to health care aide. She was a notoriously bad cook who loved to share stories about washing her first turkey in dish soap and making 'crispy critters'. She also loved to lament about being technology challenged and her ability to get lost driving practically anywhere. Leah was passionate about figure skating and was so very proud that we were three generations of skaters. She was a dedicated volunteer in the local skating clubs and with the special Olympics skaters. We will miss chasing fire trucks, late night pizza parties after bingo, shopping trips over the river and most of all, our days at the craft shows, when with a sparkle in her eye, she would always ask "are we bonding yet?" As per Leah's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of her life will take place at a later time, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, we think Leah would love donations to the Special Olympics.

In loving memory of my Mom. My Mom passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning, holding her hand on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the age of 80 years. After a three year battle with cancer, angels have taken my forever beautiful, precious Mom to the heavens. Ja Kocham cie Mamus do konca zycia…means I will love you for ever, Mom. Those of us who were fortunate to have known her and had been touched by her, we are forever privileged and blessed. She joins her brothers Jan and Wladyslaw and sister Janina. I, her son Arek (Art) absolutely adored Mom. I treasure every minute that I have spent with my Mom. From her life and career as an accountant in Poland, to her life here in Canada while working at Magic Pantry as a Quality Control checker, the pursuit of knowledge has always been her passion, her love. Mom was an intellectual, highly sensitive and possessed the most beautiful soul. I hope and pray that Mom will be truly in a better place where she will be without pain, loved, protected and cherished. She will be truly missed by all her friends in Poland and Canada. Mamus – ja kocham cie na zawsze do konca mojego zycia – twoj syn Arek. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 5 Oblate St., St. Catharines, at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to HAINE FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold, ON. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Domenic immigrated to Thorold from Prezza, L’Aquila, Italy in 1951 followed by Lena in 1952. He learned and mastered the trade of plastering and owned his own plastering company for several years. He made the move to General Motors (17 Group) as a welder in 1960. He retired from General Motors in 1990 after 30 years service. He was always a hard worker, dedicated to his trade and always willing to help his family and friends whenever needed. He took great pride in working in the vegetable garden with Lena and caring for his fruit trees. His other passions were making wine and sausage. In the last few years he could even be seen helping Lena with the homemade pizzelles. He had a love for sports, especially hockey (a big Montreal Canadiens fan), soccer and bocce – which he himself played. He loved to dance especially at parties and wedding where he would get everyone up to join him as he lead them in the YMCA and Chicken Dance. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and relatives at the dinner table. We will miss our traditional family polenta birthday parties. A very special thank you to: Dr. Douglas Ralph (Diane and Anna) for over 30 years of “above and beyond” excellent care, Dr. Rabin and Dr. Quinn of the Nephrology Clinic St Catharines Hospital and John Henderson and staff of Henderson’s Pharmacy for their excellent service.
